Personal Approach to Therapy
My personal approach to therapy is grounded in the belief that everyone has the potential to change and heal. I see people as inherently growth-oriented, with inner strength and resilience, rather than problems to be fixed. I view each individual as a whole person, worthy of understanding, and strive to meet them in the context of their unique history and experiences. I approach therapy with compassion, care, and unconditional positive regard for all people.
I take a person-centered, trauma-informed approach to therapy that emphasizes authentic connection and collaboration. My work draws from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, and Positive Psychology to help clients build self-awareness, make meaningful changes, and enhance their sense of self and well-being. Guided by intersectional feminist theory, I address issues related to race, class, gender, sexuality, and other identities, while recognizing the impact of power, privilege, and oppression on individuals’ experiences. Additionally, I integrate insights from developmental and attachment theory to explore the influences that shape both personal growth and relational dynamics, supporting individuals in building healthier, more fulfilling lives.

Depression and Anxiety
I specialize in helping clients address the root causes of depression and anxiety while teaching effective coping skills to manage symptoms. Using cognitive-behavioural therapy, I challenge unhelpful beliefs and identify cognitive distortions, while emphasizing the practice of self-compassion. I guide clients in developing strategies for stress management, self-care, sleep hygiene, and nervous system regulation. There is effective treatment for both depression and anxiety, and with the right interventions, it's possible to manage symptoms and experience overall mental well-being.
Asian Mental Health
I have years of experience working with Asian clients to address their unique mental health challenges shaped by both traditional cultural values and Western influences. With a keen understanding of Asian family dynamics and the parent-child relationship, I work with clients to navigate feelings such as guilt, shame, and anxiety. Together, we explore these issues to foster greater self-awareness within family dynamics, process unresolved emotions, and work toward solutions that honour both personal boundaries and cultural values.
Complex Trauma (C-PTSD)
I offer compassionate care to individuals who have experienced complex trauma from childhood abuse. I understand how trauma can significantly impact relationships, self-esteem, and emotional regulation. In therapy, we will work together to address relational wounds, negative attachment patterns, and past traumatic experiences. My goal is to help clients explore their history, gain a deeper understanding of themselves, and empower them to make choices in a way that enhances personal agency and accountability.
